The Law Librarians of New England (LLNE) would like to encourage promising students who plan to pursue a career in law librarianship. To help in achieving this goal, the Executive Board has authorized the granting of one or two scholarships of $500 each year. A student must be an active or student member of LLNE to be eligible and each individual will be limited to one scholarship.
Candidates must have completed at least two courses in an accredited degree program in Library Science or a semester of Law School at an ABA accredited law school to be eligible. Preference will be given to candidates who are taking or have taken a course in Legal Bibliography, Law Librarianship, or Advanced Legal Research.
Applications will be reviewed twice a year, in September and in January. Students expecting to take a course during the summer may apply in January. Successful applicants will be required to provide proof of enrollment. To facilitate this, the LLNE Scholarship Committee will provide a form to be signed by the Registrar of the University.
Applications should be sent to the Chair of the LLNE Scholarship Committee, to the address listed on the form. General information and deadlines will be posted on the LLNE website. Deadlines and reminders will also appear in LLNE News and will be posted to the chapter discussion forum.
Interested students should complete the scholarship application and send it with a current resume to the Committee Chair.
